*Job Summary:*
The Extension County Agent – Family Life of the 1890 Extension Program will coordinate, develop, facilitate and/or conduct programs and activities which assist rural/urban families, individuals, youth, and communities.
Programs must be designed to meet the needs of diverse limited resource audiences and follow the Plan of Work and Civil Rights/Affirmative Action guidelines.
Programs and activities will target limited resources and socially disadvantaged underserved youth and families in the region.
This position reports to the Senior Regional Director.
*Job Functions/Duties/Responsibilities:* Works with State Program Leaders and other Regional Extension Directors and staff in short-term and long-term planning to develop statewide initiative plans which reflect the program needs and priorities for the regional offices, counties, as well as the state and federal commitments.
Provides leadership to the local Family, Nutrition and Health program and manages its day-to-day operation.
Plans, execute and evaluates the Family, Nutrition and Health program.
Provide leadership for Family, Nutrition and Health programs that meet the needs of youth regardless of race, color, national origin, gender, age, disability or religion.
Conducts Extension projects/activities in accordance with the Extension Model/Civil Rights/Affirmative Action Guidelines.
Identify, recruit, train support and manage volunteers to implement and carry out the Family, Nutrition and Health educational programming in the unit.
Network and build coalitions with other agencies, organizations and institutions to address complex youth and family issues.
Develops and delivers objective and research-based educational programs to meet the needs of diverse audiences, specify program goals and objectives and identify resources needed.
Informs clientele of program activities.
Attends and participates in community meetings, conferences and workshops in support of the cooperative extension mission.
*Required Skills/Abilities:* Individuals should possess implementing and evaluating skills, the ability to work with adults, recruit, train and manage volunteers.
The individual must have the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and computer/computer software knowledge is required*.

*Supervisory Responsibilities:* Individuals will oversee various committees and supervise volunteers as needed.
*Work Environment:* Often travels to and from sites in car to provide training and conduct programming.
Sites will include but are not limited to schools, churches, businesses and other facilities as required.
May be exposed to a variety of temperatures and weather conditions *Physical Requirements:* Ability to walk, stand, present, and lift up to 25 pounds.
Agents are required to speak, hear, and communicate with diverse audiences to deliver programming.
*Travel Requirements:* Occasional overnight in-state and out-of-state travel is required.
Extensive regional travel is required.
*Application Requirements/Special Instructions:* This position is federally funded by the Farm Bill (Agriculture Improvement Act) Section 1444, Agricultural Extension Activities at 1890 Land-Grant Institutions / Section 1445, Agricultural Research Activities at 1890 Land Grant Institutions.
The individual must have the ability to perform duties on their own initiative while receiving minimal supervision.
The employee must be able to use good judgment in making decisions, exhibit a good working relationship with people, and be highly dependable in planning, implementing, and reporting activities.
Individuals must be able to relate to diverse disadvantaged rural/urban people as well as professionals.
A valid driver's license is required.
